In 1991 archaeologists discovered an incredibly well preserved corpse on the boarder of Italy and Austria. The corpse, known as The Iceman, was carbon dated to be over 5,200 years old.

The Iceman has been so well preserved that the skin is largely intact. Because of this archaeologists discovered some of the earliest known tattoos. The tattoos, small dots, dashes and crosses are located on the ankle, spine and knee. Continue reading “Did you know? Tattoo History”
